Yes, I said I'm currently too scatterbrained to properly write fic. BUT! I just found this one half-buried in my drafts, and I took a peek, and then I started sniggering because what was my past self on when she wrote this???

So I tweaked it a bit - and, um. I largely know nothing about the Middle Ages.

Title: On the Cusp
Fandom: Harry Potter
Relationship: Helga Hufflepuff & Rowena Ravenclaw
Summary: A woman just wanting to bathe in a lake, inadvertent nudity, and a reeling fugitive. With lots of cake. Or, Helga meets Rowena Ravenclaw for the first time.
Wordcount: 2,909
Notes: I like meet cutes hehe. Psh authorial intent. Nevermind.

When will the universe give me a Eddard/Catelyn fic, modern AU or not, largely inspired by the lyrics and the wistful vibe of Zayn Malik’s Drunk? It's so perfeeect for their canon backstory. There's even mentions of ice and summer, and red eyes and late nights, and forgetting.

That song is not even the most superior of the album, but it's perfect when you feel like dipping into a huge cup and you hug the teabag like the sleepy Thumbelina you are and you feel the nice steeping of wistfulness and a tinge of hopefulness and you feel like it'd be really nice to have someone's arm around your shoulders right now.

(I'd...probably write it. Sometime. Let me go plop my shameless multi-shipping face on a pillow now.)

Anyway, do give Drunk a listen! It's so gentle and so lovely.

And am not saying no if you run away with my prompt and write that fic into existence. Just please tag me so I can properly fawn over it and shower you with kudoses.

*Something wonky happened to the original post so I reposted it, but set to the original date and time of posting.

I decided to take a break from revising, so of course I opened up a blank Word document. Two hours in, I was cheerfully typing away at a modern AU fic with Ned and Catelyn and Cersei when I was suffused with laziness.

My computer screen does not know why, unfortunately.

I think I'm hungry, that's why, and also because I am currently using my so-called Notebook of Academic Win as my mouse pad. It is a notebook wherein I wrote down my plans for wrestling with my Easter hols workload.

As it is nearing the end of term, I think my overachieving mode has kicked in and I will be far too distracted to properly write fic.

I have recs, though!

The Ruins Left Inside You (Jennifer's Body) Needy finds that she can't rest after taking revenge on Low Shoulder.

I love this post-canon fic! The concept of Needy as some sort of vigilante with Jennifer's ghost as a devil-on-your-shoulder and Chip's as an angel-on-your-shoulder is really appealing to me.

Cool Girls (A Song of Ice and Fire, Cersei/Lyanna) by yours truly. Cersei finds herself in a group of ladies - and some men - that Prince Rhaegar has whisked away to ensure a prophecy. Nobody had the courtesy to inform her that the Stark girl can be mischievously attractive.

This fic, I think, is a good introduction to what sort of person you have just followed, what with all the DW migration that has been happening. :D  I am this fic's personification. It is femslash and rarepair and cracky, with dashes of sincerity. It was written for a prompt on the LJ comm valar-morekinks and I remember rushing a chunk of the second part, but overall this remains to be my favourite also because it is finished.

Will now have a snack. What are your recommendations for revision snacks, aside from Rich Tea Biscuits or Kit Kat or pineapple-topped pizza?

I cannot stop LISTENING to Dreamer by Charli XCX, there is something so smooth and so u n f about Raye's delivery of her verse. I've been blasting it all morning.

Froths of bougainvillea in the sunlight, ice-cold drinks, and mango ice cream are the only great things about unbearably warm weather.

There is the beginning of a bit of restlessness: I want to go out with my computer and my books, do work somewhere different, somewhere I've never been before like a new coffee shop and treat myself to some alone time there, but the heat is making me want to just wear strapless tops all day and moonily draw hearts around the words NORTH POLE.

GOALS for today:
1. Read the two assigned readings on local governance. Take notes for essay.

This LOVELY ART RECsapphics of colour couple by the ladyoflemons!

...and utterly swamped with Easter hols homework. I gave myself Friday night until the whole of Sunday for some recovering time from the madness that was the last two weeks (see: stuffing myself with sushi as coping technique).

Today's GOALS:
1. Read the two assigned readings on local governance. Take notes for essay.
2. Draft and send letter for an interview.
3. Follow-up on another interview.

I've been LISTENING to some amazing ladies for the past hour:
1. Dreamer - Charli XCX ft Starrah and Raye
2. Let It Rain - Jojo
3. Keep Running - Tei Shi

Queenmaker, Kingbreaker by SecondStarOnTheLeft. Visenya Targaryen, the first of her name, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the Realm, and her Lady Hand, Princess Meria Nymeros Martell of Dorne, discuss the formation of their small council.

I LOVE IT SO MUCH. MERIA MARTELL. I AM SWOONING. ESPECIALLY THE LAST BIT. I swooned the entire time I was reading the Dorne chapter in The World of Ice and Fire, I'm THIS near to shipping myself with Meria. I'm a big fan of Dorne (and the North. Both "never truly conquered by dragons.") And also: a matriarchy under the Targaryen rule. Come give this fic some love.

So apparently there is a new issue with Live Journal. I'm not versed on legal things, and I don't understand it much.

But I can be found here on Dreamwidth, same username. Have been crossposting from DW for some months now, in fact.

It's been a frantic term, ARGH. I am so behind on comments.

After this week will be easter hols, so around then I'll be able to breathe a bit and properly catch up.

Things of note yesterday:
1. I drank three little mugs of ice-cold chocolate coffee.
2. Ate this Korean food, bibimbap, for the first time. Quite a nice break from all the sushi-stuffing I've been on the past week as a coping mechanism.
3. Slept for 8 hours, amazing.

In the meantime, let me point you over to Tei Shi's debut album, Crawl Space. It is sublime, AND I AM IN LOVE. I've been getting my life to Keep Running for the past 24 hours.

Title: The Queen and the Princess
Fandom: A Song of Ice and Fire, Game of Thrones
Relationship: Myrcella Baratheon/Sansa Stark
Summary: There is only one ring on Myrcella’s right hand, around her thumb so as not to impede her writing: onyx set on deep gold, the Baratheon colours. Her hair is bright enough for summer. After all, Myrcella thinks to herself, she is Father's and Mother's daughter.

Relationship: Jeyne Arryn/Sabitha Vypren
Summary: Lady Jeyne Arryn stays at the inn at the crossroads on her way to take up her post as regent for the boy king.
Wordcount: 5,408
Note: This is so niche wtf. Also very obvious that I hastily wrote it at lunch whilst I should be doing other things. Writing from scratch and without any idea where you're going or how you will structure it is very, um, interesting.

Welp, it's been a busy month.

I swear it was only the 1st of Feb yesterday and I was dazedly celebrating my birthday, and now...February is almost over? What.

Currently I'm trying not to cry and keep afloat of my readings. This certain professor of mine is making us familiarise ourselves with Asia and specifically Southeast Asia, and thus: an exam tomorrow! You, girl with the flowers, locate the Annamite mountain chain and briefly explain its geographic and climactic significance!

I, the girl with the flowers: *SNAPS PENCIL AND HURLS IT THOUGH A BLANK MAP*

It's been a busy week, and I got ill last weekend. Will reward myself with first episode of Westworld during the weekend. I'm told that it's a great show.

Oh, and I read this old play in English by a Filipino writer about two unmarried sisters in their forties rattling around an ancestral house. I'm starting to think I rather love that aesthetic.

First week back was rather exhausting. Have to adjust sleeping patterns, amongst other things.

Last Friday I lugged home four books from the library. Three of them are about the politics and culture of Southeast Asia and the other one about baronial life in 13th century England.

Looking up the cards at the backs of the library books is some sort of amusement for me: the names, the dates - especially if the return dates are so far apart and the book is seldom borrowed in a decade.

In other news: am really looking forward to my darling Kehlani's new album due at the end of the week! There were two weeks in summer of 2015 where I just basked in her mixtape You Should Be Here. And then in December of same year I rolled around her Cloud 19 mixtape. There's just something so earthy and so relaxed about her music, and I love the frankness of her lyrics. It's like lounging somewhere tropical, beneath some palms and with a glass of coconut juice in hand, occasionally sitting up and nodding profusely at what she's saying. One poster over at Popjustice was right: Kehlani's like the TLC regrouped in one person.

For reference, she was featured on The Fader some time ago. It was one of my favourite issues.

Look at her darling face!

Of course, for whatever awards are worth nowadays, it doesn't hurt that her mixtape was also nominated for the Grammys.

It's been a while since I've been in a journal platform because I was one of those lured by tumblr's strange siren call. Said siren call is of course tumblr's tagging system. Lovely to find other people, but also deadly. (Horror stories, oh horror stories of strange people jumping on your posts!) Anyway, I am over there at blotsandcreases.

I also have an LJ. I just got there again, but it seems like people are leaving it, so. For now I'm there mainly for a comm about a certain music artist. Also olivia_beige.

Only one lecture on Wednesdays, thank god.
My professor is quite brilliant in the lecture, I was in awe. He's only a bit younger than my grandfather, but he cracks lots of jokes hahaha. Of course we will be using one of the anthologies of which he is editor.
Am also excited about the library book on fairy tales I borrowed for a bit of *Hermione Granger voice* light reading. It's not so thick but it's wide.
Mostly this week is about gathering as much of the required readings as I can.
On an unrelated note, I loved the ornamental driftwood I saw earlier whilst I was in a queue.

I get to play with lots of things here: (1) previous generation Stark feelings; (2) un-motherly mothers; (3) mother dying but not due to childbirth; (4) girl being tomboyish not because of "I have three brothers"; (5) hints of smudging the "sainted" characters of Lyanna and Brandon.

Title: I'll Be Here Tomorrow
Fandom: A Song of Ice and Fire, Game of Thrones

First Day!

I take it back.

When I said in a previous post that this term with 15 units is quite light? My new courses are very challenging so it appears that it IS good that I only have 15 units.

My Tuesday has 4 lectures from 8:30am - 4:00pm.

This morning, Swotty Me arrived outside the lecture hall at 7:30 and proceeded to organise my Planner and Notebook, doodling all sorts of motivational words and scaring myself a bit with how determined I am. BUT I really am. I even scratched out the mark I am aiming for for my general weighted average, which is naturally the highest. In that one free hour I have already roughly outlined how I will spend my weekends. /o\

So...normal term behaviour. Nothing to see here.

And since I really am also determined to combat procrastination, I think I ought to finish the prompt I am planning to fill this weekend. It's due until the end of this month for a prompt meme, but I'm also planning to launch it as a Femslash Feb fic.

In the spirit of the new year, I will try to make 2017 thrive as much as 2014 did.

Of course the only way to make this happen is to clone 2014!

ME: *is a Professor Duncan from Orphan Black* THRIVE, 2017, THRIVE LIKE YOUR SISTER.

Or not. I can always smush them together. Osmosis might occur. An osmosis of positivity!

I will start by trying to post as regularly as I can.

1. Yesterday I got tired out by the registration for the new term. Lighter load this term, only 15 units. And one of them is a required course on Political Science. Fancy that!

2. Drive-by Rec: San Junipero episode of Black Mirror. I've enjoyed it this holidays. It involves an interracial couple, one of them an awkward lesbian and one a bodacious bisexual, and it didn't end in tears! Only an hour long and no knowledge of other episodes or seasons is required.

3. My slow but sure campaign to finish all the wips in my drafts folder continues. A majority of them is femslash. Fandom needs more hopeful open-ended femslash fics, and so of course: Be the change you want to see.
